Issue with 5.2.1
 

I have been using Xtreme v0.47a for a couple of months. I set over 99% of my files to very low upload priority and that had the effect of conserving 75 - 80% of my bandwidth for users who are sharing and contributing to the network. I downloaded the newest version from the website a couple of days ago and unzipped it onto a different harddrive. Since then my bandwidth is totally clogged by leeches and no one who is sharing files can download anything from me because of all the leeches hogging network resources. Is the new antileech.dll broken? What's wrong with these new files? I have enjoyed using 47a but it is pointless having 99% of my bandwidth soaked up by leeches who will never contribute anything to the network. Is there some way to fix this? One further question: Why do downloads always stop at 98 or 99%. Not occasionally does it do this, but always. This is counter-productive when I'm downloading a file that only one person has and 47a refuses to complete the download. Then finally the one person who has the file logs off and never comes online again. This has happened so many times I can't remember. Why on earth does 47a do this? Thanks! Jihan

wrong. The priority has no effect on which client you upload, but which files you prefer.

how do you identify leechers ? Do they have a red icon ?

are you sure not to download fake files ? What does the verboselog say ?

In the sequence of my previous messages, is it possible for you to add to the scheduler the enabling/disabling of the 1:3 amount based limit at Xtreme I options?

I have thought that maybe this is an easier way to solve my situation...

Is there any way of increasing the statistics graph time interval? or is there any way of logging the download/upload to the log file?

I would like to see how the download/upload behaves during an entire day, and the graph only shows 37min...

If you set the update delay of the graph to 3 seconds (Options --> Statistics) and play with the width of the window you can set the graph to 37 minutes or whatever you want.
And in "Options" -->Extended" --> "Verbose" you can enable "Enabled" and "Log upload/download events".

Thank you very much for your support. Playing with the update delay will allow me to do what I want. It's not perfect, because we can't have the resolution we want, but it's ok. For an 8 hour period I will have a resolution of 15-20s. I will try to put my screen at 1600x1200 to gain a little bit in resolution...

The verbose log I already knew it, but what I want is to track the download/upload speeds, and it seems that the verbose log only registers the events, and not the speeds.

Periodical logging the speed... Not with emule as far as I know. Perhaps there are external progs with this feature? I don't know, sorry.

I have tested the graph variation this night and it's all that I need for my purpose.

I have a free download period between 1:00 - 8:00 am and I schedule a higher download limit for this period. I just wanted to know the upload/download speed variation during this period.

Hi,

A very strange thing is happening to me...

I usually let emule running all day at a very low download speed (2 kB/s) and the regular upload speed (11 kB/s). The problem is when I get home, the upload is at 2 or 3 kB/s and the blocking ratio in my upload slots is almost 100% in all of them. In the help file you say to change the upload settings for correct it, I just don't know how. During the night everything works fine, during the day this happens.

are you sure you mean the blocking-ratio (the second value at upload-toolbar) and not the upload-health (the first value) ?

Yes i'm sure. The upload health is around 20-30%.

the values I see is a typically sign for: your upload is saturated. If you don't have any hardware-problem I think your ISP is throtteling down your speed. For the moment there is nothing you can do. Next official version of emule will include a new feature to avoid(or at least try to) such throtteling.

But this only happens with eMule Xtreme mod. With other versions the upload is always constant. Could it be that's because your mod shows what really happens in the upload?

Maybe I can try switching the ports (I am using the defaults) or activating UPnP?

UPnP is only to open&close the eMule Ports on your Router automatical...

Xtreme sends the data the same way every emule does. Be sure you didn't enable NAFC, because it doesn't work under every envoriment.

You're correct. I have tryed again with sikva and it continued with a low upload. Reverted to Xtreme.
Well, it seems the only way of curing it, for now, is shutdown the computer and the modem, wait a few seconds and turn it on again. Now it's already working. 100% upload health, 0% blocking ratio and a constant upload of 11.5kB/s. The only problem with this is I cannot have big download rates, since I must shutdown eMule daily...

I think NAFC it's not good for me, it seems to work better with it disabled. I will follow your advice and keep it disabled.

If you need a beta tester for your new version relating to the throtelling avoidance, count me in...

Bug: Leak of GDI

The version 5.2.1 have one bug of GDI resources.
The state: in the download list there are 747 files, 15 active.

The primary leak is in Bitmap objects.
In one o two days, emule.exe process have 9999 gdi objects (the max.).

the problem is the official emule. During the last month I fixed most of the ressource-leaks. But now I don't find anymore at the code... and I already searched for hundrets of hours.

Hello, i have just this little but ugly problem:

Always when i start the win i see the x-treme minimized window in start menu:

Others emule clients usually start the aplication directly in systray menu, like the options show:

thats is what i tried to do with x-treme mod, i just need the program starting only in systray, i already tried many options to fix this, seachers, regedit modifications, but nothind solved my problem, so i come here to call some help, because i really liked this mod.

I never touched this code.. it's working like official emule.

You must aktivate the option at the display menü "Minimize to system tray" ... and it works like it should.

I didnt found this option in xtreme and others emule clients.

I dont know why just the xtreme mod do this, i really would like to fix this problem.

Hmm so why just x-treme client start minimized in start menu?

Even the native emule client start directly in systray, i dont know why only xtreme is rebel with me.

Anyway, i really liked the mod, but this kind of inicialization is unacceptable, for a good work certain organization is needed, so i really need some way to force the .exe start in systray, any regedit configuration, exe editor, or any other kind of solution.

Then look again at the eMule display options the first checkmark.

You have to enable "Minimize to system tray" in "Options" --> "Display" too...

I had been a xtreme v.5.1 user since last year with 256kb/64kb (its bad but thats Turkey:smile: )now we have 1024/256kb connection but after this improvment i couldnt take a good performance extreme v5.1 it started to not stable and all araound 20kb even i give upload all..i tried to extreme v5.2.2 but it was same to..:sb
i did all the configs for 1mbit but maybe xtreme doesnt work for me now

I've altered some of your setting, you may try out this as preferences.ini (for 5.2.2). Rename the old one, create a new preferences ini and paste.

If you use Win XP and don't have patched the half-open connections:

If you don't have a router this should work. If you do have a router disable NAFC (Xtreme I-settings) and set your uploadlimit at 25.5.

Can you say us exactly what your problem is?

As you can see, you should control you portsetting.
Then you should increase the "MaxHalfConnections" to e.g. 49 (if you use Win XP you have to patch first with xpantispy).
Try the Xtreme with "Open more slots if necessary" option aktivated.

And by your next post say us your values for "Found sources" and if you have "Too many connectins".

edit/ aarg ... should typing faster :-)

and as last sidenote let me say: first try a lower slotspeed (standard is 3.0).. otherwise if you find only slow clients you would have too less open slots.

Ok.ı did as you said .installed xpantispy but used the default checked boxes and patched it.(does it ok?)

made uploadslotspeed=1 for the first days and MaxHalfConnections/ 49

now i have 887 sources and up=12 Dl=25-35..But i think it will be ok after a few days(took some credit)xtreme is the best mod i have ever seen so i will be patient about getting a good performance..

eMule v0.47c is final and release. There no need for the eMule Xtreme v0.47b to be made.

I was not pushing anyone, I just asked a simple question. Maybe it was almost done and if that was the case I think my question did not hurt. Since it passed a few days without an answer I've decided to use the eMule0.47c while patiently waiting for Xman mod, without any pressure.

When something is free we have no right to demand anything. We could request something, but only hoping that it could be done, nothing more.

So Xman, please take your time... and by the way, the new eMule solved my previously reported throttling problems. Now my download is always at the max!:-)

You can use every port you want. But in Brazil you should enable obfuscation:
